 Beloved Community! Happy Summer Solstice! Hope you have fun plans for this warm day of sunlight! At 6:45 TONIGHT we are gathering in the sanctuary to view 1946. Hope you will join us there if you have no other plans. It is a great documentary with conversation following. Laulie and I will be there to greet you! On Sunday at 6:00 AM our Holy Covenant Youth Mission Team leaves for New Mexico. Please hold them close in your prayers! There are 17 youth and 2 brave adults serving as the Hands and Feet of Jesus! We will gather a bit later for Sunday School classes in cool rooms! Worship will be in the sanctuary at 10:30 AM. There will be a brief reflection on our time at the Mission Possible Annual Conference a few weeks ago. Hope you will join us for fellowship, spiritual growth and passionate worship! Highlight This Week  Screening of “1946” Thursday, June 20 6:45 pm in the Sanctuary 1946: The Mistranslation That Shifted Culture is a feature documentary that follows the story of tireless researchers who trace the origins of the anti-gay movement among Christians to a grave mistranslation of the Bible in 1946. It chronicles the discovery of never-before-seen archives at Yale University which unveil astonishing new revelations, and casts significant doubt on any biblical basis for LGBTQIA+ prejudice. Featuring commentary from prominent scholars as well as opposing pastors, including the personal stories of the film’s creators, 1946 is at once challenging, enlightening, and inspiring.  Volunteers Needed! Sack Summer Hunger Saturday mornings through July 27 Sign up HERE HCUMC is participating in the Sack Summer Hunger Program again this summer, providing nutritious, easy-to-prepare meals to families with school-aged children who depend on free and reduced lunch programs throughout the school year. Meals are delivered every Saturday free of charge. This program is facilitated by Metrocrest Services who, in conjunction with area churches, supports local families in our community. The program lasts through July 27th. We need drivers to pick up food from Metrocrest, someone to sort the bags for delivery, drivers to deliver to the families and someone to return any leftover food to Metrocrest. Donations toward dinner expenses (utensils, beverages, etc.) can be made on the church website and are also appreciated.  Blood Drive Sunday, June 30 8:30 am – 12:30 pm Carter BloodCare will be in our parking lot all Sunday morning for our convenience. Please consider making a donation if you can.  Food Pantry Pantry Hours: Tuesday-Thursday from 10-2 2nd and 4th Sundays from 12-1 pm We currently need soups, chili, canned beans, canned meat, and pet food. Donations may be dropped off Tuesdays through Thursdays between 10 am and 2 pm. In addition to that, we accept donations on Sundays before and after worship. There will be carts outside the Pantry for your donations.  Collecting NOW Fan Drive Through the Month of June The days are getting hotter and the need is increasing for fans to keep our neighbors cool. The HCUMC Missions Committee is working with Metrocrest Services to ensure fans are provided to those who are most in need. We can purchase a box fan for around $25. We are happy to accept any donation amount, which will then be combined with other donations to purchase fans for Metrocrest to distribute to those in need. A monetary donation can be made via check or ONLINE. Please note ‘fan drive’ on your check. If you would prefer to purchase a fan and bring it to the church, please place it in the narthex and the fans will be delivered to Metrocrest.  Clothes Closet Needs We need the following for the HCUMC Community Clothes Closet: -Men’s clothes (all sizes) -Women’s pants -Children’s clothes -Shoes (all sizes, specifically work shoes, heavy duty shoes) -New underwear and socks (all sizes) -Mini shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, lotion Please bring clothes to the church Tuesday – Thursday between 10 am and 2 pm or Sunday mornings.
