Joyful Love Community Literacy Program

Dawnie Dahir and Mary Harris are taking our current ESL classes to new heights!  They have started a committee to help facilitate an expansion of our ESL classes to a literacy program for our surrounding community.  Dawnie and Mary each teach an ESL class--a beginner and an intermediate--on Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 8pm.  On March 3, Beth Querrey will start teaching a beginner ESL class in room 215CC from 10 to 11:30am.  Plans are in the works to offer a beginner Spanish class for English speakers.  This 90 minute class will run for 10 weeks at a cost of $100 per student.  The class size will be limited to 10 to 15 students and is open to the community.  Before any finalization on this Spanish class can begin, we need to know that there are enough people interested in learning Spanish.  Please register on the sign-up sheet in the narthex.   With our expanding literacy program, we are in need of more ESL teachers, and subs who can step in when needed.  Training will be provided.  We also welcome anyone in the community who is interested in joining this dynamic committee to attend our next meeting on Thursday, February 26 at 7pm in room 215 CC.  Please contact Dawnie Dahir at 972-394-1132 with your questions or to sign up as an ESL teacher/sub or Spanish teacher/sub.  Thanks so much!
